Preaching Series January 2023
2023 begins with a special guest delivering the sermon—our very own Dave Beazley will deliver the sermon on the first day of the year after having preached a few Sundays at First Reformed Church the past two months.
Then, we will begin at the end—leading up to Lent we will spend time discussing worship in our service as we look at the Biblical models (not all are ideal) found in Revelation 2-3.
I ask you to be in prayer for those services as we are looking for a new direction in worship to accommodate, uplift, and feed our entire congregation as we move into a deeper understanding of worship from a biblical perspective and how best to glorify our Heavenly Father with our worship and lives as Christ our Savior did. To do this, we need to be filled with the Holy Spirit, in the Spirit, and following the Spirit’s leading in worship service and in our daily lives, and that begins in the Word and in prayer.
Lastly, I ask that you pray for our Ash Wednesday service. I have asked the leaders of Payne Chapel to design and lead the service. We—the members of St. John’s and myself included—will support them in whatever way they ask. Come and be a part of that service and consider how you may assist.
